    1. To secure your seat pre-payment is required for all classes, call 301 891 2323 or visit the storefront
    2. Classes fill the 6 person limit quickly, so act fast
    3. No refunds for cancellations and/or no-shows
    4. If we cancel a class due to lack of enrollment, students will be notified and given the option of a full refund or taking the same class at a later date
    5. Only registered students may attend the class
    6. Please notify instructor of any special health accommodations
    7. Students receive a 10% discount on any purchase, on the day of the class
    8. Beading can be highly addictive, so be forewarned


    Meet Your Instructor:

    Cheryl Moody is an accomplished artist with over 30 years in beading with pieces in Elle Magazine, The New Yorker and the cover of Essence magazine with Queen Latifa. Some of her pieces have also been seen in the movie Sister Act and the popular sitcom, The Cosby Show. Cheryl has been working at S & A Beads for over 10 years and can be found in the store Wednesday through Friday.


    Class Descriptions:

    Holiday Gift Making for Beginners: Seasonal special
    Tuition: $45 for a 3 hour class
    Limit: 7 students
    The holiday season is fast approaching, and S & A Beads wants to help with your gift list. In this 3 hour class we will help you make simple earrings, easy bracelets, fun bookmarks, charm wine glass identifiers, and other small, special, quick gifts. Family, friends, teachers, classmates and colleagues will appreciate your thoughtfulness and creativity. You can take special pride in these unique gifts because you made them yourself. In this economy, handmade pieces will also help keep your expenses down while also supporting a local small business. Act fast, we are only offering 2 of these very special holiday classes.

    Fundamentals of Bead Stringing I: Create your own earrings & necklace
    Tuition: $35 for a 2 hour class
    Limit: 6 students
    Learn to work with the essential tools of bead stringing - clasps, crimps, ear wires, headpins and other finishing techniques. For two hours our bead shop is yours. Use any of our thousands of beads to learn the basic skills and make your own special creations, you only pay for what you decide to take home. Participants range in age from 9 to 90, and come to class with a wide array of craft skills and experience. Whether you are just beginning or an experienced beader, eager to brush up on basic techniques, we will work with you to create beautiful and distinctive jewelry. Students are usually able to complete a necklace and earring set within the class period. On the day of the class all students receive a 10% discount on any merchandise they wish to purchase.

    Fundamentals of Bead Stringing II: Concept & design
    Tuition: $45 for a 2 hour class
    Limit: 6 students
    Prerequisite: Fundamentals I and/or previous beading experience
    This class is the next step up from Fundamentals I, in developing your unique jewelry. This class focuses on the techniques of knotting, multi-strand pieces, tips on measurements, and why things look better in odd numbers. This is a great class for pearls and other small beads. You learn the "in's" and "out's" of designing jewelry, which leads to a better understanding of concept, or the "idea" behind the piece. On the day of the class students receive a 10% discount of any merchandise they wish to purchase.

    Metal Wire Wrapping I: Beginning Metal Work

    Tuition: $45 for a 2 hour class
    Limit: 5 students
    Prerequisite: Fundamentals of Bead Stringing and/or previous beading experience
    Wire wrapping is a unique design technique which can accentuate and highlight your beads. This class will teach you metal wire wrapping of beads in a chain linking style and open link designs for earrings and drop, dangle wire wrapping pendants. This class is great for those who would like to practice and build on the earring wrapping skills they learned from Fundamentals of bead stringing. You will learn how to create and practice your original designs with a base metal before moving into sterling silver, gold filled, and niobium wire.

    Metal Wire Wrapping II: Wrapping organic objects

    Tuition:$50 for a 2 hour class
    Limit: 5 students
    Prerequisite: Metal Wire Wrapping I and/or previous metal work experience
    This class is a fun and creative way to think outside your standard box of beads. Express your design ideas through free style wire wrapping of stones, shells, arrowheads and other organic objects. Wire wrapping is one of the loveliest ways of converting that beautiful and unusual object into wearable jewelry. We encourage you to bring pieces you may have to wire wrap. More advanced techniques of wire use are also taught in this class - including hammering metals for a great texture, handmade metal clasps, and even your own wire rings.

    Advanced Beading
    Tuition: $60 for a 3 hour class
    Limit: 4 students
    Prerequisite: Fundamentals of Bead Stringing II, Wire Wrapping, and previous beading experience
    This class is for the advanced student who had mastered many of the techniques of bead stringing and is interested in taking a hobby to the next level. This class will focus on multi-strand elaborate designs using a combination of techniques. Also, will go over the understanding of complicated design concepts working in color, style, shape, texture, statement and symbolism. Lastly, outline how to price your amazing, handmade, one of a kind jewelry.

    Private Beading
    Tuition: $80 for a 2 hour class / additional time $30 per hour
    Limit: 1 student
    This is a unique experience to work one on one with a talented instructor, Cheryl Moody. Weather you need help refining the basic techniques or getting ready for your first show, a private class allows you to choose your own curriculum. The scope of this class will be determined by the needs and interests of each individual student.

    Bead Parties: Workshop
    Tuition: $35 per person /+ cost of materials
    Limit: Minimum of 5 people
    This workshop is perfect for birthday parties as well as; bridal showers, baby showers, wine clubs, or just a fun night with the girls. In our workshop parties we help make and design a piece for each party member, then the on-site instructor helps each person finish their piece. Details are discussed, with the store manger as well as the instructor, to set up a party workshop. Personal themes, colors or symbols can be added into a workshop. Topics like materials, number of people, age of people, type of pieces, date and location will all be taken into account as soon as you call to schedule by talking to the manager, Zoe Stern and the instructor, Cheryl Moody.
