A mixture of old Six and Seven layer chevrons. The smaller chevrons at the top of the strand measure 22 x 15 mm, and the larger ones measure about 29 x 22 mm. The long bead at the bottom is 61 mm x 21 mm. These beads are in pretty good shape, though one of the seven layers does have crack at the end of it. The five beads in the middle of the strand, including the long one in the middle are so-called "fake chevrons". The distinctive pattern was painted onto a white porcelain bead sometime in the late 19th or early 20th century. The idea was to reduce the cost and complexity of manufacture. Ironically, fake chevrons sell for as much or more as real six layer chevrons because of their relative scarcity. Very cool strand of mixed chevron beads.
