Lovely Venetian made face beads traded to Africa somewhere around 100 - 150 years ago -- often referred to as Baoule Face Beads (since the design resembles two eyes and a mouth). The beads are double sided. These beads are of medium quality -- the beads are physically intact, but often the design on one side of the bead is damaged or missing. The bead may have minor hairline cracks or be somewhat scraped up. Still, these beads are clearly recognizable as being face beads. Beads are of two slightly different shapes - some are roughly round (measuring on average about 14 mm x 16 mm) and some are thick tabular beads (measuring on average 11 mm x 15 mm).
