African amber beads from Ethiopia. These beads were manufactured, most likely in Africa, during the 20th century and are basically a low tech plastic. They are an uncommon type of African amber, and the beads have a lovely inner glow. The strand is nicely matched, and an especially nice touch is the two lighter colored beads further up the strand. This is a very wearable strand of beads, and perfect for someone who would like to wear some very distinct and very pretty African amber beads at a very reasonable price. Our sources indicate that these Ethiopian amber beads -- which were never particularly plentiful -- are becoming harder to find.
The strand measures 24 inches (plus approximate 5 additional inches of raffia cord) and the individual beads measure approximately 21 mm long x 15 mm in diameter.
