This is a set of just beautiful Venetian feather beads from the African trade. We see lots of feather beads of various sorts, and this particular strand just glows. It's not that the beads are in perfect condition -- they have a few chips and nicks, but overall the quality of the craftsmanship is just superior. And they have just enough wear to give them personality. It's not surprising that these beads came out of the estate of a noted bead researcher and long-time Washington DC Bead Society member.
There are 13 beads on the strand, measuring 10 inches long. The longest bead measures just under an inch long. The beads measure 8 - 10 mm in diameter.
