Nigerian Bell & Blue Tile Bead Necklace

BrassBell2

Wonderfully cool Nigerian brass bell and bright blue vintage Bohemian tile bead necklace.  The brass bells are made via the Lost Wax Casting process by the Ashanti Peoples of West Africa.  Lost Wax Casting technique are beautifully documented by Professor Carol Ventura of the Appalachian Center for Craft at Tennessee Technological University.  The tile beads are vintage beads, likely of Bohemian origin, and were made throughout large portions of the 20th century.  There are also some plastic beads at the top of necklace.

The necklace measures 28 inches long.  The largest bells measure approximately 11 mm in diameter.  The tile beads measure 6 mm in diameter.
