Tamba (Pink, 6-Strand, Ghana)

This is a really lovely 6-strand antique tamba from Ghana. The beads are a nice salmon pink color, with a few speckled yellow beads mixed in toward the end of one of the strands. They are in excellent condition.
A "tamba" is a group of multi-stranded European glass seed beads (also known as "hanks"). They were traditionally worn around a woman's waist in the Ivory Coast circa pre- to early 1900s and are very collectible.
These salmon colored beads are also larger than the average tamba bead--approx. 3.5 mm long x 4 mm in diameter. The strands are each 29". This is a really special tamba for a great price.
