Lovely strand of dark cobalt blue faceted glass beads, made in Bohemia and traded to Africa. This type of beads is often referred to as Russian Blues, because beads of this type were reputedly traded in Alaska and the Pacific Northwest by Russian fur traders. These particular beads were traded in Africa and came out of the estate of a noted bead researcher and member of the Washington DC bead society.
These particular beads are all a nice dark blue with lovely facets. Most are small six sided beads, while five are longer faceted beads. Really nice cobalt blue color on this strand! The necklace measures approximately 24 inches long and individual beads measure approximately 5 mm in diameter.
