Yellow Criss-Cross Trade Beads

Great strand of an early African trade beads. These beads feature quite an unusual pattern of glass decorations on the bead (known as "trail decorations"). While these beads are quite beautiful, they are also somewhat fragile. Eleven of the beads on this strand are what we would consider to be in excellent condition, with the rest featuring a nick or chip or other defect. Fortunately, none of the beads are actually broken, just showing various degrees of wear. The strand measures 22 inches long, not including about an inch of raffia cord. Beads measure slightly less than 10 mm in diameter, and measure 15mm to 16 mm long.
